So I've been thinking about the last installment of Quantum. I decided to go back and redo it completely. It's going to take some time to pull off what I'm trying to accomplish. All I can say now is that I'll be ditching Photoshop for the foreseeable future.
Err, well not completely, but I'll only rely on it for edits and what not. The main composition will be crafted in a new way, something which I've been studying all along and allows for a much higher degree of realism compared to using Photoshop alone. I expect this one to take a month if not two months to complete. Well maybe I'm stretching it out too much but you get the point.
I've come to realize the obvious truth that these worlds we create are 3 dimensional in nature. With that in mind, using programs that can create such worlds in 3 dimensions allows for more unprecedented control over every tiny detail. It sounds complicated but I speak the truth. Rather than hide what I'll be using, I'll just list the programs in order of importance:
Autodesk Maya 2015
The Foundry Mari 2.6
Pixologic Zbrush 4R6
Google Earth Pro
USGS The National Map
The Foundry NukeX 8
Adobe Photoshop CS6
Depending on how I look at things, I'll either render it out in Arnold or if I decide to share the scene I'll go with Mental Ray. Anyway, it'll be a nice test of my newly acquired skills and it should be fun. If I pull this off, I can only hope that it'll blow away everything else I've already created.
